Hello, is it me you're looking for?

Oh, media blog, how badly I've neglected you! I've been wasting my months guzzling celebrity gossip via Oh No They Didn't! and the occasional dose of Television Without Pity.

It wasn't always going to be this way. In fact, I created a sister blog which was supposed to be dedicated solely to the dissection ARGs (alternate reality games) a la LG15 and The Dark Knight. A little hiccup occurred when Blogger tagged it as possibly controlled by spambots and marked it off for personal inspection. Alas, I didn't get a notice or anything when it passed the test, and in the weeks that had followed, I'd forgotten it.

Common sense says that if I plan to use this as a piece of resume flair, I ought to showcase my initiative and creativity even during the fallow months. To that I say...I'll get to it later.

In the meantime, here are some things that I like at the moment:

Tim-Tams
I took a two-week pilgrimage to Sydney, Australia for World Youth Day and in the mix I met koalas, Scots, the Pope and these deliciously creamy and crunchy cookies. I was sad I'd only managed to smuggle one snack-packet of these to the States, but I was brought out of my despair when I found they carried them at Cost Plus. Joy! Decadence! ...ugh, tummy ache.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (on iTunes!)

Neil Patrick Harris. Nathan Fillion. More Neil Patrick Harris. More Nathan Fillion. And that red-haired chick from The Guild and that one Cheetos commercial. Oh, and it's the brainchild of Joss Whedon, his brothers and his brother's fiance. You know something's up when I'm walking down the cereal aisle, singing (quietly), "It's a brand new day, and the sun is high, all the angels sing 'cause you're gonna die!" You bet I'm in for singing commentary and extras when the DVD hits.

More YouTube stuff

The Vlog Brothers, Marvel/DC (check out "Twas the Dark Knight Before Christmas" and of course the After Hours arc), The (previously mentioned) Guild, and last but not least: SockTube. Oh, in regards to the video, I have been on a date to the library. It's not as cool as it sounds.

In other news:

I'm not a reader of the Twilight series, although I'm sure I would have been back in middle school and high school, back when I was still drooling over Armand and Lestat in Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. I was pretty much vampire obsessed; I'd pick up anything preternatural in the Teen section at the library. Except when I picked up and become fully engrossed in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I was hooked until my cool series with a headstrong, trash-talking heroine with a penchant for stuffed penguins and a werewolf named Richard suddenly turned into porn. Once Anita was banging werewolves, wereleopards, werelions, wereSWANS, vampires, and just about everything else at the same time, I knew it was curtains for me. But sadly, I can't help but keep reading, just hoping it will get better...

Anywho, so, Twilight. Haven't picked it up. But the power of the Internet has told me how it ends in Breaking Down, and Twilighters, I am so sorry. It seems Stephanie Meyer learned how to write epilogues in the J.K. Rowling school of "Letting Everybody Down and Creeping Them Out." Yeah, you heard me, Harry Potter. Naming all of your kids after your dead parents, a dead headmaster who never learned from his old mistakes and some professor who made your life horrible out of love for your mom? All is not well, indeed!

And something to put a smile on your face:

The Joker don't stop 'til he got enough.

Well, that's it for now. Tune in later for some clips from Australia and Tim Tam Slam results.
