Walking on Air

The reason why I won't buy a MacBook Air, though I will be sorely tempted to:

Some Apple Genius made the unfortunate (or brilliant?) decision to not include a CD/DVD reader/burner, leaving users to either 1) buy the $99 USB SuperDrive to read your disk, 2) go through the rigamarole of using the wireless network to talk to some other Apple in your house, or 3) forego disks all together and buy all your music and movies from the iTunes store.

My car didn't come with a casette player, perhaps this the same situation, the way of the future and all?

I'm thinking...no.

My car (a now outdated Scion xA) was manufactured two years ago in 2006 and even then I hadn't seen a cassette for sale outside of a Goodwill or Big Lots in ages. CDs and DVDs, on the other hand, are still ruling the portable media world as we know it.

I may eat my words later, via digital satellite-image wordpills, but I shall try my hardest to feign ennui to this slim devil.

For now, I'll take my laptops like I take my casinos: with slots!

Well I think Apple had the future in mind. They think that cd's and dvd's are going to go out of style. Think about it; it only took cd players about 10 years to go out of style and then mp3's took over. Granted there is still a cd business, but 10 years from now, it probably won't be as nearly as big as it used to be. It will probably be similar to how there are still record companies putting out vinyl. Apple is a step ahead sort to speak. They see movies going the way of music: all electronic. Perhaps the came out with a laptop without an optical drive too early, but to me, it's clear that they have future in mind.
